ABSTRACT
Economical and ecological evaluation methods for sewage sludge generated by biological sewage treatment are presented. Among them, land application, composting, drying by plants, thermic drying, incineration, co-combustion in cement furnace and thermal power station, biogas production, alternative methods (wet oxidation, hydrolysis, hydrothermal oxidation, microwave-high pressure operation) are explained.

ABSTRACT
In this study, the egg production of the females with cocoon of Pardosa pullata (Clerck) collected from the Agricultural Biology Field Stations belonging to the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, U.K. was studied in the period of May-October in 1990 and 1991. The work was performed on a total of 379 cocoons collected with the females from an abandoned grassland, a small meadow and an unplowed field. The relations between body size and number of eggs, egg sac size and number of eggs, egg sac dry weight and female spider dry weight was investigated. The findings are as follows: The females produce egg sac more than one during the reproduction period; the first egg sacs contain more eggs than the second egg sacs; there is a positive relation between the egg sac size and the number of egg deposited in it; there is no significant relation between the body size of the female and the quantity of the eggs produced.

ABSTRACT
This study was undertaken with an aim to put forth soil characteristics and soil-plant relations of Quercus ithaburensis Decne subsp. Macrolepis (Kotschy) Hedge et Yalt. (Fagaceae) (valonia oak) distributed in West Anatolia. The soil analysis data shows that this taxon generally grows on different kinds of soils with sandy-clayey-loam and sandy-loam; non-salinity, moderately alkaline, moderate in nitrogen, inadequate level of phosphorus, any level of calcium carbonate and potassium content. Also results obtained from soil and plant analysis have been statistically compared and investigated.
