ABSTRACT
in this study, traffic originated noise pollution in Sivas and its effects on human health was investigated. For this purpose. traffic noise measurements were carried out at 24 stations (streets and crossroads) between January 1997 and June 1997. The measurement results showed that the level of noise value exceeded the noise value of 65 dBA at ali stations during the morning, noon and evening times, while the noise level below 55 dBA was measured just only at öne station. in addition, inquiry studies were made on randomly selected 305 people living around streets where measurements were done. These results indicated that among ali environmental problems in Sivas, noise pollution was on second rank after air pollution. People living at location exposing higher noise levels were disturbed, and the noise pollution has caused nervousness and headache problems on people.

ABSTRACT
In this study, extracts of Tnchoholoma terreum (Fr.) Kummer were prepared with ethyl acetate, acelone, chloroform and ethanol and antimicrobial activities of these extracts were examined on test microorganisms Aeromonas hydrophila ATCC 7966. Listeria monocytogenes ATCC 19117, Escherichia coli ATCC 11230, Enterobacter aerogenes ATCC 13048. Corynebacterium xerosis CCM 2824, Corynebacterium glutamicum ATCC 13022, Proteus vulgaris ATCC 8427, Serratia marcescens NRRL 3284. Bacillus cereus ATCC 7064, Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633, Bacillus brevis ATCC 9999. Bacillus sphaericus, Mycobacterium smegmatis CCM 2067, Sarcina lutea, Micrococcus lutcus LA 2971, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538P, Stapylococcus epidermidir NRRL B-4877, Alcaligenes faecalis CCM 3763, Alcaligenes eutrophus, Salmonella parathyphi B, Salmonella thyphi ATCC 19430. Salmonella thyphimurium CCM 5445, Klebsiella pneumoniae UC57. Micrococcus roseus, Mirococcus flavus ATCC 14452, Citrobacter freundii ATCC 8090, Bordatella bronchiseptica ATCC 4617, Erwinia amylovora, Pseudomonas extorquens. Pseudomonas fluorescens, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853, Pseudomonas putida, Xanthomonas campestris, Kluyveromyces fragilis NRRL 2415, Candida albicans ATCC 10231, Candida utilis LA 991, Hansenula sp., Rhodotorula rubra, Debaryomyces sp., Saccharomyces cerevisiae ATCC 9763. Schizosaccharomyces sp.. Torulopsis sp. and Torula sp. by dise diffusion methods. As a results of study, we have found that Tricholoma terreum (Fr.) Kummer extracts revealed antimicrobial activity against some Gram (+) and (-) bacleria but it had no antagonistic effect against yeasts used in this study.

ABSTRACT
The Gediz River orginates at the Murat Mountain and is discharged to Aegean Sea near Foça. In this study, the level of natural radioactivity in the Gediz River basin has bcen investigated starting from the point at which the river joins the sea to source of the river. In the basin. 321 soil samples have been collected at l km intervals along the river. Further more gamma activity and radiometric uranium surveys have also been measured. The level of the natural radioactivity in soil samples has been determined using multichannel gamma analyser. The concentratİons of eU, eTh, %K, and gamma survey, radiometric uranium beta and gamma measurmcnts have been determined changing between of 0.10-7.54 ppm, 0.35-27.13 ppm, %0.04-3.19; 56-176 cps and 6-16 uR/h; 0-15 cps ve 0-24 cps, respectively.

ABSTRACT
In this study, the last position of Iiverworts distributed in Kazdağı National Park and its environs are investigated. 22 species have been determined from this plant group belonging to the class Marchantiopsida (Hepaticae) of division Bryophyta. Out of these 5 species are reported for the first time from our study area. in addition to the distributional patterns of all the plants listed in this article, their ecological characteristics are given too.

ABSTRACT
Nitrogen is essential for the living of micro and macro. Protein vvhich is one of the three biological forms of nitrogen is basic component of all organisms. Chitin and peptidoglycan components of cell wall of the living and DNA and RNA are also the biological forms of nitrogen. The roles of soil organisms in natural ecosystems (soil, air, and water) and for the oxidation and reduction reactions in microbiological N-cycle are important. Both gaseous and solved forms of N in addition to the living available forms of nitrogen freed during the mentioned reactions cause to environmental pollution.
