ABSTRACT
The subject of this study is the ornamental plant whose Latin name is Euphorbia marginata Pursh. it is not known İn public because it is not raised in Turkey neither natura! nor cultural. The mother-land of this flower is Northern America. Their seed were planted İn parcels at Yıldızevler region in Pursaklar/Ankara and investigated. The following features were detected as a ornamental plant.
1. in the beginning, the plant develops vertically, with the alternatİng leaves on the shaft, then gives horizontal branches and has interesting flowers and bracts with much white and less green. Its flowering season is between July and November.
2. it is observed mat it survives 3 weeks in the vase with water so that it can be utilized as fresh-cut flower. If it is dried, it does not lose its shape and can be used as dry-cut flower.
3. it likes sunny areas and also grows in shade. it is not selective for soil and grows easily. it is proved to be raised at parks and gardens solely, as groups ör as a border. For ali these characteristics, Euphorbia marginata Pursh. is of value to generalize in our flora and to advİse to ornamental ptant raising ones, to flower sellers and landscape architects.

ABSTRACT
Effects of vehicles on environmental pollulion are increasing day by day. Gases and particulates are spreading too much to environment from vehicular exhaust gases. Most importants of these pollutants are heavy metals Hke Pb, Nİ, Cd, whîch come from exhaust gases. Plants growing on crossroads and road sides absorsb and accumulate these metals. in this study, accumulation of lead which comes from exhausts in grasses which grow on some crossroads of Ankara was investigated for six mohnts. Leaf and root samples taken from these plants were extracted and İead contents of these extracts determined by AAS. The results showed that lead pollution is increasing continuously in Ankara.
