ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to evaluate arsenic levels in Mediterranean mussel (Mytilus galloprovincialis) obtained from Ýstanbul fish market in 2004. Mussels serve as useful indicators of temporal trends in environmental quality because they accumulate some contaminants in their tissues at levels many time higher than in the surrrounding water and quickly to changes in contamination. Atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS) was used to determine arsenic levels in mussels. The highest level of As was 0.098 mg/kg (no: 9) and the lowest was 0.019 mg/kg (no: 7) in the mussels that has analysed. Evaluation of the study results showed that the As levels were within the normal ranges for our country's acceptable limits. The results showed that there was no serious hazard in the samples in terms of the arsenic analysed from Ýstanbul fish market.

ABSTRACT
This study was carried out in surface waters taken from one station selected at the largest place of reservoir in Derbent Dam Lake. In the collected waters, totally 16 parameters were analyzed. Thus, water quality and production potential concerning aquaculture were determined in the lake. During the study, average temperature 15.56ºC, dissolved oxygen 10.68 mg L-1, pH 7.9, conductivity 1525 µS cm-1, total alkalinity 163.8 mg L-1 and total hardness 377.3 mg L-1 were determined in the surface waters of the lake. In addition, it was determined that the dissolved cations are Na+>Ca++>Mg++>K+>Fe++>NH4+-N and also dissolved anions are SO =>Cl->NO3--N>NO --N. Once the findings of the physical and chemical analyses were compared, it is seen that Derbent Dam Lake has an oligotroph-mesotroph lake character. In terms of these results, the water of Dam Lake generally has a convenient habitat with regard to aquaculture.

ABSTRACT
In this study, the chromium concentrations of atmospheric PM2.5 and PM2.5-10 particles collected during one year period from Buyukcekmece lake basin were evaluated. Yearly average PM2.5, PM2.5-10 and PM10 chromium concentrations were found 0.099 µg m-3, 0.101 µg m-3 and 0.200 µg m-3, respectively. Seasonal characteristics of each size fraction were studied and their cyclic behaviors were modeled using the Polynominal fit method. Regional and local possible sources of chromium were defined and their effects over the basin were discussed. The most important emission source of the chromium was identified as the cement factory located in the area. The relationships between concentrations and meteorological parameters were investigated and a significant correlation between episodes and inversion level was determined.

ABSTRACT
This paper reports the results of an annual hydrochemical and hydrobiological survey carried out in the littorals of the Kuibyshev reservoir (Republic of Tatarstan, Russia). 26 hydrochemical and 16 hydrobiological assessment parameters were taken into consideration during the evaluation of the composition of the sampled water. In general, 100 samples were analyzed quantitatively while 43 samples were assessed qualitatively (23 from the first region and 20 from the second one). It was found that some indexes reflected adequately environmental changes while others not. Therefore, we concentrated on here what markers may be considered as the most appropriate during analysis of the water quality.

ABSTRACT
This is a synoptic study of 12 different phytosociological researches, one carried out by the author, related to the steppe communities of East Anatolia. The results of this syntaxonomic study, is a new order, Festuco oreophilae-Veronicetalia orientalis, and three related new alliances, Festuco oreophilae-Veronicion orientalis (type), Tanaceto aucherani-Thymion pubescentis and Astragalo aurei-Festucion caucasicae, being described and classified. These syntaxa were connected to the Astragalo microcephali- Brometea tomentelli class. The vegetation analysis throughout the research was carried out according to the traditional Braun-Blanquet approach.

ABSTRACT
In this study, instead of using NaOH which is accepted widely in annual plants, KOH was used. The purpose was to eliminate recycling costs of black liquor and to turn the vaste into useful material. Whichever method is used to reduce alkalinity used in NaOH paper production method, sodium found in sludge increases salinity in soil and water. High viscosity causes very serious problems in recovering unit. Wheat straw (Triticum aestivum) was used as a fiber material in paper production. The following results were also obtained; dry matter (10.37%), anorganic matter (41.25%), organic matter (41.25%), K2CO3 (1.47%), pH (11) and electrical conductivity (428 mScm-1). Also, BOD5, COD, TSS and pH values of the black liquor before and after titration was measured. After pulp production, liquid sludge was obtained using titration method from black liqour and it was used as a fertilizer in broad-beans (Vicia faba) cultivation. Control samples gave higher yield than fertilized samples. The statistical difference between sulphate 100, 300 and phosphate 100, 300 has been found not significant at 95% confidence interval. Sulphate 500 and phosphate 500 gave lower yield than control samples at all doses and found significant at 95% confidence interval.

ABSTRACT
It is determined that new methods like "making an artificial fountain and using newly killed spiders" can be used to collect pompilids in addition to known methods. 90 samples belong to genera Anoplius, Tachygetes, Agenioideus, Arachnospila and Cryptocheilus were caught by using artificial fountain in a dry area away from water resources, and 30 samples belong to genera Agenioideus, Arachnospila and Cryptocheilus were caught by using newly killed spiders.
