ABSTRACT
Manure from livestock building, when not stored properly, causes environmental problems including odor and visual pollution. The manure supplied from animal barns should necessarily be stored for future use in closed manure storages, which are built according to standards. Manure storages should have enough capacity to store manure for certain days. Closed manure storage structure can be used to prevent environmental pollution caused by manure from animal farm.
The study was conducted at animal farms in Adana, Mersin and Burdur province. The aim was to investigate effects of manure produced at the farms on environmental pollution. Farms were chosen employing aimed sampling method and 197 farms constituted the material of the study. Simple random sampling method was used to select farms in the questionnaire.
Auxiliary sections of buildings at which solid and liquid manure were stored at farm surveyed were mostly neglected. It was determined in 80% of the farms; manure which is used as animal waste was stored outside. Results showed that animal manure caused odor and visual pollution. Additionally, it was concluded that animal manure was considered as a pollutant to surface and ground water as long as it is stored outside in a pile.

ABSTRACT
This study aimed to provide a framework as a basis for determining qualitative and quantitative aspects of landscape changes. Special emphasis was placed on pixel-based comparison of satellite images and the advantages of this approach over traditional change detection based on a simple comparison of the area of a given land cover type at different dates was discussed. The results of this study showed that coastal landscape has high spatial heterogeneity. The results also suggested that rapid and complex changes in these areas resulting from human interference can be identified accurately by using spatially-referenced information. The use of "from one date to another" (-from ,-to) change categories was reported to provide more information on the movement, fragmentation, and consolidation components of landscape changes and the utility of the products of this approach for creating future secenarios was mentioned.

ABSTRACT
In this study, anatomical studies are carried out on some geophytes, Scilla mesopotamica Speta, Tulipa aleppensis Boiss. ex Regel and Asphodeline damascena (Boiss.) Baker subsp. gigantea E. Tuzlacý, distributed in the vicinity Þanlýurfa. Among them, S. mesopotamica and
A. damascena subsp. gigantea are local endemic, but T. aleppensis is a nonendemic which has a rare distribution. In addition, new suggestions are given to their threatened categories, regarding observations on population.
In anatomical studies; transverse sections of roots and scapes, superficial and transverse cross-sections of leaves were examined. The similarities and differences among them were determined. Scape anatomical structures of S. mesopotamica and T. aleppensis generally resemble to each other. The scape of A. damascena subsp. gigantea, different from the other two species. Leaves of S. mesopotamica and T. aleppensis are unifacial, whereas of A. damascena subsp. gigantea is ecvifacial type. There are raphide crystals in parenchyma cells of S. mesopotamica's roots, scape and leaves, and spherocrystals in epidermis cells of A. damascena subsp. gigantea's scape and leaves. No crystals were found in T. aleppensis.

ABSTRACT
This study searched the prints, the number of nest, eggs and progenies of the mature female sea turtles, nesting on the Kazanli beach. The factors affecting the number of progenies and breeding success also studied. In addition, the morphometric measurements of the ovulated sea turtles were recorded. For this purpose full time expeditions to Kazanli beach were conducted between 15th of May and 16th of October 2004.
Mature female sea turtles arrived Kazanli beach between 19th of May and 11th of August during 2004 breeding season. The highest number of arrivals and nesting was recorded in June and July. The total number of arrivals to Kazanli beach was counted as 1310 during 2004 breeding season. Of the 1310 arrivals, only 410 were resulted with nest, the rest (900), studied just as prints. It was also observed that 7 out of 410 nests belonged to Caretta caretta, 403 nests belonged to Chelonia mydas. The main factors affecting the breeding success were identified as; dog predation, beach erosion, greenhouses built next to the beach, inappropriate surveillance of the beach during the breeding season, concrete blocks and rubbles, and solid waste and rubbish on the beach. Furthermore, the effects of agricultural, industrial and city originated pollution on the breeding success of the sea turtles on Kazanli Beach have not been determined in detail yet.

ABSTRACT
The relation of human being with man and nature is built by ego. Ecological ego is critical element in relations between man and nature, while healthy ego with good character is more important in human relations. Ecological ego is thestabile state of ego which gives mentally, emotionally and behaviourly no harm to nature, but also respectful to all creatures. Environmental problems are mainly derived from ill-relations of ego and environment. Understanding the ecology of ego is important as much as the understanding of nature ecology since self survival based attitudes and behaviours of ego affects primarily environmental health. The research data from environmental sciences makes little contribution to environmental conservation, since the primary research objective in environmental sciences are not targeted to controlling of human passions and behaviours damaging to nature. The degree of ecological awareness and consciousness are dependent on the awareness of ego. It is quite difficult to solve environmental problems unless understanding of ecology of ego and building up ecological ego states. If functions of ego regulating internally thinking, emotion and behaviour could be controlled by ethical values of ecopsychology (not to give harm, to be respectful, to make contribution to nature), then it would be possible to control and manage the attitudes and behaviours harmful to environment.

ABSTRACT
This study aims to investigate the urban parks in Aydýn by utilizing some ecological quality criterion. The research specifically deals with the soil and native vegetation attributes of the ecological quality. In this work, AutoCad folders along with the list of services and the amount of green areas in parks obtained from the Aydýn Municipality are used for determining the amount of pervious soil surfaces, and site visits are conducted for generating the existing plant cover data. The results show that, in the investigated 47 parks, the average percentage of pervious surfaces is 37.98%, and only 11.64% of the vegetation is indigenous to Aydýn. As conclusion, the parks are inadequate in terms of the pervious soil surfaces and the amount of native vegetation hence decline of habitat values of these important spaces contributing to urban environment number of ways.
