ABSTRACT
In this study, seasonal changes of bacteriological (heterotrophic plate count, total coliform, Escherichiacoli) and algological properties and chlorophyll-a concentration of anaerobic stabilization ponds of West and East Wastewater Treatment Plants in Bursa City were examined. The results of this study showed that Chlamydomonas polypyrenoideum was dominant in all ponds. The chlorophylla concentrations measured in ponds have varied from 2.87 µg/l ile 838.68 µg/l. Minimum and maximum counts of total heterotrophic bacteria, total coliform and E. coli in ponds were found to be < 102 - 10.6 x 104, < 102 - 73 x 104 and < 102 - 9 x 104 cfu/ml , respectively.

ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to determine the effects of alkaline fly ash on fecal coliform content of wastewater sludge. In addition, the variation of fecal coliform numbers in fly ash-sludge mixtures during drying process was observed. The results of the study indicated that addition of fly ash with doses of 40%, 80% and 120% (on a dry weight basis) was not adequate for an efficient removal of pathogens. Drying fly ash-sludge mixtures to 40% dry matter wasn't suffecient in terms of fecal coliform reductions, whereas drying to 60% dry matter achieved 1-2 log fecal coliform removal. It was determined that drying to approximetely %90 dry matter brought about a reduction in indicator bacteria ranging from 3 to 5 logs.

ABSTRACT
This study was conducted to identify physico-chemical features of water of Mumcular Dam Lake, Mumcular town, Bodrum-Mugla. The aims of building of the dam lake were; irrigation, drinking water and industrial water supply. During the study, the water samples were taken periodically from five choosen stations in every month. The measured data were given as following (minimum, maximum and average for one year): Water temperature (11.5-30.6-20.7ºC), pH (7.6-9.0-8.3), dissolved oxygen (3.1-10.2-7.3 mg/l), BOD5 (UDL-6.6-1.8 mg/l), ammonium (UDL-2.7-0.6 mg/l), phosphates (UDL-1.5-0.2 mg/l), sulphates (UDL-180-66.2 mg/l), clorid (0.3-3.3-1.2 mg/l), acid bound ability (1.9-8.2-3.4 mg/l), total hardness (6.9-22.1-11.1 mg/l), total alkalinity (98-260-136.3 mg/l), calcium (49.3-157.8-79.4 mg/l), magnesium (29.5-94.6-47.6 mg/l), conductivity (114-623-291.6 µS/cm), evaporation remainder (86-467-220.2 mg/l), visibility secchi-disc (35-130-83.4 cm), turbidity (2.5-26-7.4 NTU), colour (4-40-10.2 unit). According to the results it was identified that Mumcular Dam lake has warm and good quality water without a serious pollution problem, but some nutrients are insufficent and there is a water depletion in the dam lake.

ABSTRACT
The toxicity effect of ethanol extracts from Tamarix smyrnensis Bunge, Scorzonera mollis Bieb, Scorzonera tomentosa L., Reseda alba L., Linum bienne Miller, Artemisia santonicum L., Prunus laurocerasus L. and Laurus nobilis L. on feeding and toxicity effect of the large diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella L. was investigated in the laboratory. The highest toxicity effect determined was 85% by A. santonicum, within seven days. The toxicity effects of the other extracts (T. smyrnensis, S. mollis, S. tomentosa, R. alba, L. bienne, P. laurocerasus and L. nobilis) were determined as 55%, 45%, 50%, 60%, 60%, 50% and 55% within the same period, respectively. No mortality was determined on control groups. The highest consuption (10.67 mg) wasobserved with alcohol extract from S. tomentosa and the minimum consuption was with alcohol extract from T. smyrnensis. The other tested extracts showed similar consuption.

ABSTRACT
The objective of this study was to determine the floristic diversity of Yilanli Mountain which contains different vegetation types. The research area is located in Mugla province. In this study, during the eriod 2000-2002, by evaluating the collected 948 plant specimens, 48 families, 181 genera, 338 species, 4 subspecies and 1 variety were identified. The total number of taxa is 343. The number of endemic plants is 64 (18.65%). The distribution rates of taxa into phytogeographical regions are as follows: Mediterranean elements 132 (38.49%), Irano-Turanian elements 36 (10.5%) and Euro-Siberian elements 8 (2.33%).
