ABSTRACT
This article presents a study on the vegetation of Istranca (Yýldýz) Mountains lying in the northern Thrace. Syntaxonomically, the vegetation of the study area consists of two associations. These associations are; Carpino betuli-Fagetum orientalis Yarcý and Querco cerridis-Carpinetum orientalis Yarcı. The study was realized by using classic Braun- Blanquet method. Associations were named according to phytosociological nomenclature code and are included in Quercetalia pubescentis Doing Kraft, 1955 order; Querco-Fagea Quezel et al., 1980 superclass, Quercetea pubescentis Quezel et al., 1978 class. Both these associations are reported for the first time.

ABSTRACT
Determined by applying greased surfaces. The fluxes in the Campus which is a semi-rural area had an average value of 136,2±15,6 mg/m2. day. The sampling duration on the average was 1890±715 minutes. The obtained results were presented in a comparison with Air Quality Protection Regulation and literature data.

ABSTRACT
In this study air pollution levels caused by sulfur dioxide in Bursa between 1988 and 1999 was presented . It has been observed some improvements in sulfur dioxide concentrations since 1993 due to increases in the usage of natural gas. The sulfur dioxide concentrations for the periods of 1988-1992 and 1993-1999 were compared with regulation limits. The average sulfur dioxide concentration for Bursa in 1999 was 73.2±24.6 mg/m3 which was at a reasonable level if it is compared with the average value for Turkey.

ABSTRACT
A detailed study on the morphology as well as biometric measurements of different parts of Stachys cretica subsp. smyrnaea (Lamiaceae) and anatomical characteristics of its root, stem and leaf have been investigated. Scleranchymatic patchs are seen in the root, which is full of xylem elements in the pith region. There are few stomata seen in the stem possessing a starch bundle sheat of large cells following the cortex. Pith is parenchymatous. Palisade and spongy parenchymatic cells in the leaf mesophyll resemble each other. Leaf is amphistomatal. Soils supporting this taxon are loamy in texture, slightly saline, medium in nitrogen and organic matter contents, poor in potassium but rich in phosphorus and calcereous.

ABSTRACT
In this study, amount of pesticides used in some important agricultural products, of Niðde city was investigated. Accoding to result of this study, it was determined that pesticides are used intensively at apple and potato production areas. In the city the chemicals were used against the harmfuls, diseases and wilds, respectively. At the result of unsuitable application of chemical fight environmental problems and production costs are increasing. In that case, farmers must be educated, abouth the pesticide use at the short time period. The pesticide using must be decreased and the alternative fight methods should be applied at the long time period.

ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to remove lead by using phosphogypsum as an adsorbent. Batch adsorption studies were carried out to determine the effect of optimum adsorbent dose and time on the removal of lead. Experimental results showed that phosphogypsum can be used as an effective adsorbent for the removal of lead. The lead removal for 16 mg/l lead solution within 1.5 hours was 87,6%.

ABSTRACT
In this study, it was conducted a poll investigation on twenty-seven food industry establishment which are placed in Erdemli-Tarsus region in Içel province to determine their behaviour towards the environment. It was observed that alcohol-nonalcohol beverage sub-sector is dominant and these sectors have the most employment capacity and they use more water from urban system than all other sectors. Water, wastewater and solid waste problems of the establisments and other environmental factors were discussed separetely.

ABSTRACT
This study was carried out between January and May 2001 at the springs to supplay water for Mamasýn dam lake (Aksaray). Water samples were taken from the determined stations once a mounth. It has been determined that springs have generally 1st. class qualities and these watersprings suit to drinking water quality criteria (WHO, CE and TS266) after cleaning process.

ABSTRACT
In Eskisehir (Turkey) drinking and tap water are supplied from a water treatment plant. Depending on the industrial waste water and climatic effects high ammonium concentration in treated water cause undesirable water quality. The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of membrane processes i.e. "Nano Filtration (NF)" and "Reverse Osmosis (RO)" which are used for the the removal of ammonium ions from treated water. It was found that the NH4+ concentrations of influent water decreased from 6.5 to 0.2 mg/l by using RO which corresponds 95.38% ammonium ion rejection.
