In the adsorption stage of the given process, water is contacted with activated alumina and it loaded with posphate by way of OH' ion exchange. For regeneration of the loaded activated alumina, it is treated with dilute sodium hydroxide solution. At this time, posphate vhich was exchanged with OH’ ions goes through the solution. in order to bring phosphate in the available form, solid calcium oxide is added to the regeneration solution. In this process, precipitates of calcium phosphate and calcium hydroxide areformed. Sodium hydroxide solution after filtration from the precipitate is used again in the regeneration. Ca(OH)2 is only consumed as a chemical reagent in this process. Any other ions are not charged to vvater and also activated alümina and NaOH arefeed back again to the process. With an influent concentration of about 10 mg P/1 the effluent concentration is about 0,3 mg Pil in the beginning of the adsorption phase.
